Radical members of the House of Commons intend to memorialise Lord Salisbury to compel Lord Lytton, British Ambassador at Paris, to return to that city in order that Great Britain may be properly represented there during the Exhibition. MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. Tho weekly returns of the Bank of England, show the reserve in notes and bullion at £13,500,000 and the proportion of the reserve to liabilities 40| per cent, being a decrease of £176,000 in the reserve of last week. Consols, 99. The tone of the market is firmer. New Zealand four per cent inscribed stock has declined | per cent, and is quoted at 105-|. Australian wheat, ex warehouse, averages 395. New Zealand long [berried, in store, 38s 3d. The market is weaker. The copper market is recovering and copper is quoted at £4O per ion. German beet sugar, 21s, the market is weak. Java 235. Iron, best Scotch pig No 1 f.o.b. on the Clyde 44i. Tallow,the market is quiet, best mutton 25s 6J to 265, beef ditto.

VESUVIUS IN ERUPTION. Rome, May 10. Vesuvius is again in a state of activity and a fresh eruption of lava is creating anxiety. TROUBLE IN ZANZIBAR. Zanzibar, May 10. Captain Wis sman, who,in charge of the German operations on this coast with a force of nine hundred men, was attacked by the rebel leader Bushiri at Bagomeo at the head of six hundred Arabs. After severe fighting Bushiri was badly beaten, and fled leaving eighty killed. THE OUTRAGE BY KURDS, Constantinople, May 10. The report of the outrage by Kurds, who are stated to have first outraged, and then burned the Armenian girl in the presence of her parents at a place called Amris on the third inat, probably originated in the fact since ascertained, that Sonrikanri, an Armenian chief maltreated his bride and then boiled her to death.
