WELLINGTON, May 4,
The property tax Commissioner has received £7 conscience money from Invercargill. The Premier has forwarded a reply to the deputation of tho city council which waited on him some weeks, ago promising to meet their wishes in all respects and endeavor to obtain legislation in respect to the slaughtering nuisance. plains that the council considered that the Samoans did no more than the Maoris at the wreck of the Lord Worsley, aud sending an address is out of place, particularly as there is no certainty it .would reach the proper quarter.
