(By Telegraph.) WELLINGTON, A pair, 25. Mr Maxwell left yesterday for the south, to confer with the objectors to the proposed alteration in the running of the express trains between Christchurch and Dunedin. Mr McKerrow, Chief Commissioner of Railways, leaves for Auckland by the overland route on a visit of inspection. He expects to bo absent about a fortnight. CHRISTCHURCH, April 25. A deputation of local M.H.R's and others waited on the Railway Commissioner Maxwell this morning with regard to altering the express (ime-lable. They suggested it should start a little later, and run faster ; also that an early train should start, even earlier, to enable the country people to get their mails earlier in the day. Mr Maxwell promised to consider the objections and suggestions, and said the Commissioner would endeavor to meet the convenience of the public.
