Per Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Reuter’s Agency.) (Received 1.20 a.m., Nov. 23rd.’, PROPOSED CHANGE OF NAME. Melbourne, Nov. 22. The proposal of Sir Henry Parkes to alter the name of New South Wales to Australia, excited much ridicule and adverse comment throughout Victoria. NAVAL DEFENCE. The Naval Defence Bill passed all its stages in the Legislative Assembly without opposition. AN ABSURD PROPOSAL. Sydney, Nov. 22. The Premier, Sir Henry Parkes, gave notice in the Legislative Assembly today of a Bill changing the name of this colony to “ Austi'alia.”
