AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. Mr Mobs Jonas reports for the weekended Saturday:— HAMIMON’S SAIB. Mr Andrew Hamilton’s clearing sale at his ' farm, Makikihi, on Tuesday, brought together a large 'number of buyers from all parts of the district, and as it was well known that every lot to be offered would positively be sold there was ho lack of animation in the biddihgs and very fair prices were realised. The horses were got up in style, and the implements—although many of them had done good service- and had plenty of wear—were brought to the hammer neatly painted, free from rust, and'j working order. These unusual but happy circumstances rendered it a pleasure to conduct the' sale. He submitted and sold ten draught mares and geldings, the former £lO, £lo,£ll, £l3, £lB, £1717s and £lB j and £7, £lO 10s and £l4 for the latter. Tha wagon, drays, ploughs, etc., brought prices up to the owner’s expectations. WASHDTKI BAIBTABDB. There was a fair entry of sheep, both stores and fat, and the late nso in values was con- .- firmed. He sold 530 half-bred ewes in lamb at 6s, 23 fat ewes at 7s 4d, 16 at 7s 6d, 44 at 7s 7d, 82 at 7s Bd, and 486 at Bs. There was an absence of fat cattle of prime quality. Fat heifers sold at £4, springers at £8 to £6 10s, S Vear bids, '£2los, and yearlings from 17s fid. SHBffPSKIKS, &0. On Wednesday he sold upwards of a shousand skins, the bulk being butchers’ crossbreds, at 2s 6d, 8s Sd, 8s 4d, Ss 7d, 4s, 4s Sd, 4s fid, and 6s for crossbreds, and Is fid to 2s 7d for merinos. He disposed of 60 hides and calfskins at 2}d, 3d, B}d, and 4d for hides, according to weight, and 4d for / calfskins ; fat from 6s to Bs. BATtrBDAT’B BAX.B. There was a good muster at his horse basaar to-day, when he submitted horses, drays, etc., on account of the Deputy Official Assignee, and others. Draught mares realized up to £lB 10s, drays, harness, etc., at values. A quantity of bacon, heavy weights, sold at B}d. Mr E. R. Guinness (for' the Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited), reports for the week ended Saturday, 14th July, 1887, as follows CATTLE. Fat are still in . plentiful supply, and we cannot report any alteration on late quota* tions, viz., 17s fid to 18s for prime quality, and 16s per lOOlbs for medium. On Thursday last, at the Washdyke yards, no beef of any consequence was yarded, the bulk forward being principally old cows and inferior - stores which command little or no attention, Privately we have sold 20 head prime quality bullocks, heavy weights, at the above quota* tions. BBBBP. Prime quality mutton may be quoted at 2d per lb. medium Jfd. The supply is getting ■ limited, those who have the feed and can hold •we inclined to do so rather than accept the prices offered. At the Washdyke yards we sold fat ewes in medium condition at from 7s to 7s 6d r general transactions fie fid, 7s, 7s fid to Bs. The demand for 2 and 4-tooth crossbreds, for turnip feeding, in forward condition is fairly good. We have several enquiries for hoggets and half-bred ewes in lamb.

lEITATB SALES OP SHEEP.

In transactions of this nature the market has displayed considerable animation, both for prime quality sheep fit for export, young store crossbreds, and hoggets, the demand being satire. We hare disposed of 850 freezers and 200 prime fat ewes at very satisfactory prices, and have several large lines in treaty for. ' WOOL ABB SHEEPSKINS. The welcome fine weather we have experienced during the past week or ten days has enabled fellmongers to dry a large quantify of wool, thus enabling them to operate freely at our'nsual fortnightly sale on Wednesday last, prices inconsequence being well maintained. Privately and by auction we disposed of 8376 skins and several hags of wool, as follows In factory crossbreds, for Messrs Garrick and Oowlishaw, 400 at 4s fid; for Mr Illworthy, 800 at 4s fid ; for Mr Andrew Grant, 160 at 4s fid —nil the above lines being exceptionally good. For other clients at 3s 9d to 4s 3d; best butchers’ crossbreds 3s ■ fid, 3s 9d, 4s, 4s 3d, to 4s fid ; second quality 3s, 3s 3d to 3s fid ; best merinos 2s 9d to 3s ; country lots from Is fid op to 6s lid, according to sire and condition; wool in bags, 2|d to B|d for locks, 6Jd to fid for pieces. HIDBB Are in good demand, as follows :---601bs and over, 4d ; BOlbs to fiOlbs, 3Jd to 3}d ; light and inferior, 2Jd to 3d ; cut and slippy, 2d per lb. At the above price wo have disposed of a large number. Messrs Gracie, Maclean and Adam report for the past fortnight as follows BOSSES. At the Timaru Horse Bazaar on the 9th inst., and again to-day our entries were smaller than usual, and the quality of draughts with few exceptions was inferior; the demand for good young draughts continues brisk, and several buyers were disappointed to-day in not getting their wants supplied. Good backs are also in better demand. Wo disposed of nearly all our entry to-day at for medium draughts up to £80; inferior, £6 to £10; hacks, medium to good, £8 to £ls ; light and weedy, £3 to £7. CATTLI. The demand for beef is dull, and prices obtained at the various sales ore no improvement on former rates. Wo quote 17s per lOOlbs for best steers. At Pleasant Point on the 4th inst. there was a considerable entry of- fat and stores, and a large proportion changed bonds. We sold 15 head at from £2los to £4l6s. At Washdyke, on Thursday, there was an average entry of fat and stores. There was but little business done in the former, but most of the stores changed bands at for yearlings IBs to 20s ; 2 year olds 40s to 60s } calving cows, £4 2s fid to £7 2s fid. We sold privately 23 head fat cattle at quotations. SHEEP. At Pleasant Point on the 4th inst. the yards were not so well filled as at the two former sales. There was keen competition for all the lots at a noticeable advance in prices. We sold 92 ewes at 8s sd, 155 ewes *t 8s fid, 100 ewes at 7s 4d to 7s fid. At Washdyke, on Thursday, we sold for various owners 355 fat ewes at 8s to 8s fid, and 460 half-bred ewes in lamb at 4s 9d. it Winchester, on the 12th, business was Wo sold 100 merino wethers, prime, ‘*tfis 4d. Privately we placed 400 freezers md 400 crossbred ewes. , PIGS. At the Washdyke and Point sales we sold 84 weaners and slips at from 4s fid to 8s fid. SKINS. At our sale on Wednesday we offered and sold over 1600 skins at a slight advance on former prices. Best butchers’ skins realised from 3s 9d, 4s, 4s Id, 4s sd, to 5s Id ; country skins in proportion. COT7HTBT SALES. We held a clearing sale yesterday on icconnt of Mr M. Maze, at his farm, [Jpper Totara, and disposed of sheep, cattle, horses, and implements at satisfactory values. Bidding for the property did not reach the owner’s expectation, and was passed.
