At a meeting of the Kaiapoi Borough Council on Tuesday evening last, Mr Gains Clarke, of Timaru, was appointed Town Clerk. There were thirteen applications for the post. Work at the Breakwater contract and the wharf extension has been suspended today, owing to the heavy range that prevailed, but which is now subsiding.
