[Special to the Peeks Association.] London, June 17, In the House of Commons the Hon Evelyn Ashley, Under-Secretary for the Colonies, stated that the Queensland Government were honestly desirous of remedying the labor traffic abuses. At a meeting of thirty thousand Orangemen, held at Belfast, resolutions were passed condemnatory of the administration of Earl Spencer as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. The Marquis of Normanby, who is at present in New York, has visited Presi. dent Arthur. The civilians resident at Korosko and Assouan are fleeing. Bailway material is being prepared at Woolwich Arsenal for an Ironclad train at Souakim.
De Gaeriff, who assassinated General Sudeiken, chief of the Russian police’ has been captured. Sir Andrew Clarke, who represents Australia on the Snez Canal Commmission, has been appointed Vice-President of that Commission.
