The Marine Department have received the following telegram from Auckland ; —“The barque Andro EJas, David Murray, master, bound from Formosa to Auckland, which was towed to Manukau yesterday, bad a crew of Malays sick and dying with dropsy. Two are already dead. Dr Scott went to the ship last evening. The master had been misled by an old chart, which shows Auckland on the West Coast of New Zealand.”

The parties are rival manufacturers of sheep dips, and plaintiff alleged that defendant threw several pannikins of the fluid on him as the climax of a quarrel, which occurred during a trial of Hayward’s dip. After hearing evidence, the Court fined Hayward one shilling, each party lo pay his own costs.
