Sir Geo. Des Vceux’s motion for preventing unrestricted purchases of land in New Guinea and the Pacific Islands was adopted. A resolution proposed by the Hon. Mr Whitaker, that criminals should bo prohibited from landing in the Australian colonies, was also carried.
