ELECTIONS.
HIGH SCHOOL BOARD. The election of two town members of the High School Board, which took place yesterday, occasioned no slight stir in the Borough, the friends of the candidates being active in endeavoring to secure their return. For some time before the state of the poll was declared, a considerable number of persons began to gather in the vicinity of the Town Hall, and when, at 6.30 the Returning Officer, Mr E. H, Lough, appeared to make the usual declaration, there was a rush of citizens. The result of the polling was : Yotcs. Henry William Harper ... ... 180 James Francis Lovegrove ... 145 Thomas Crowther Plante 101 and the Eeturning Officer declared the two first, Archdeacon Harper and Dr Lovegrove duly elected. No speeches were made. THE MAYORALTY. Mr Lough also declared Mr John Jackson duly elected Mayor of the Borough of Timaru, for the ensuing year,
