Arrival of the S-S* lonic. Wellington, Nov. 8. - The N.Z. Shipping Company’s steamer lonic, from London, is just signalled. She left on 22nd Sept., thus making the voyage in 47 days. She left the Cape of Good Hope 22 days ago. A Brewery BurnedChristchurch, Nov. 8. About three o’clock this morning, Innes’ Waltham Brewery was discovered to be on fire. The City and Kailway Brigades turned out, but the wooden portion of the building was almost entirely destroyed. The damage is estimated at £3OOO. The insurances are South British £7OO, London Liverpool and Globe £BSO, Australian Mutual £BSO. The London Liverpool and Globe had £SOO on the malthouse, which was of brick, and only partially damaged. Draughts Match. The following are the games in the draughts match Wilson plays Boswell ; Miller plays Stevens; Mcllwrick, Kay; Given, Mckenzie; Wilson, O. D. B. Eyre, Later. At 3 o’clock the Interprovincial Draughts Match stood—Canterbury 20 games, Otago 27. McKerrow and Hay bad finished six games, resulting in 1 to Canterbury, 4to Otago, and 1 draw. J. 0. Josling and Eaeside had also played six games—Canterbury 3, Otago 1, drawn 2.
