FIRE AT TEMUKA.

Last night about eight o’clock a very r destrustive fire occurred at Mr Pranks’ • brewery, Temuka. The Fire Brigade were soon on the spot, but the flames bad got so complete a hold upon the place that 3000 bushels of malt were more or less damaged and machinery to the value of £3OO was completely destroyed. Mr Franks is a very heavy loser and he is besides, in a most awkward predicament, thus: as the bulging is owned by Mr Delamain of Ohristehnrcb, Mr Franks is bound by the terms of his lease to keep it insured, and in the event of its being destroyed he is liable for damages. As it unfortunately -happens, Mr Franks’ policy for £SOO has been allowed to lapse some months ago. The origin of the fire is as yet unknown.
