Particulars of the attempt on the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, are as follows-A parcel containing 6oz of dynamite, with fuse attached, addressed to Earl Spencer was dropped into the Ballydehob Postoffice. Observing that it was not stamped, the Postmaster’s suspicions were aroused, and taking it out into the garden he there examined the contents. In the centre of the parcel was a portion of the fuse with a percussion cap on the top. Dynamite was placed to support the central fuse, and a further coil ol fuse was bound round the dynamite, the outer covering being of calico, to which the label bearing the address was pasted.
