Further revelations which have beet) made in connection with the Phoenix Park murders will, it is expected, lead to the implication of one of the Home Rule members of Parliament. It is now stated that Egan, Treasurer of the Land League, deposited the accounts of tbo Leaguejwith Mr Parnell prior to his departure from England. The Fisheries Exhibition will be opened by Her Majesty on May 12. Severe weather has been experienced in the south of England. Heavy enow has fallen in London throughout the whole day.
During the progress of a meeting in Paris last night, a large quantity of explosive material, which had been secreted in the ho 11, was discovered. The circumstances surrounding the affair, lead to the belief that it was the result of a carefully’arranged plot, supposed to bo the work of Socialists. A strike lias occurred among the ■journeymen bakers in Cork. They demand a number of concessions from their employers, which the -latter refuse to allow, and the strike is rapidiy asBurning formidable proportions. The Scotch residents in London are still agitating for a reform of the land laws, and especially those relating to the Highlands of Scotland. An influential deputation waited to-day upon the Secretary of State for the Home Department and urged upon him the necessity of Parliament taking action in the matter. The arrangements for the reception of the exhibits for the Amsterdam Exhibition have proceeded somewhat slowly up to the present time, but strenuous efforts are now being made to have everything completed in time for the formal opening. An accident occurred to-day on board H.M.S. Defence, by which 20 seamen were seriously injured. Russia has submitted a proposal to the Powers to the effect that they should unite in arranging a scheme for the suppression of secret societies. Sir Anthony Musgrave has accepted the position of Governor of Queensland. The war vessel Depanto, which has been constructed to the order of the Italian Government, was safely launched to-day. _ The ship Teutonia has run aground in the Suez Canal. Every effort is being made to get her off but so far without success. She blocks the Canal and renders its navigation impossible.'
