The jury having retired for a time, returned into Court with a verdict of guilty against the two older prisoners. His Honor directed that the prisoners, if guilty at all, were all guilty, and the jury thereupon retired again, and after deliberation, returned a verdict of not guilty; and the prisoners were discharged. Court last month. . - Detective Kirby was cross-examined by Mr Perry at some length, but the only additional information elicited was that a conversation took place between prisoner and witness on board the Ringarooma, on the voyage to New Zealand after the arrest of the former, and that the witness had personally lost money by the Ryan transaction.
