(Per Press Association.) Floods in WellingtonWellington, July 28. The heaviest downpour of rain experienced here fpr some time, commenced yesterday afternoon and continued until 6 o’clock this morning, when it slightly moderated. Light rain is still falling. At the Te Aro end of the city and at Newton floods occurred, and houses were flooded to a depth of about three feet. In one instance a slip carried away the foundation of a house and itnowlies at an angle. At Thomdon the low lying parts were flooded, No serious damags is yet reported. The boisterous weather has delayed the arrival of the trains. Success of the Frozen Meat TradeDunedin, July 28. Mr Begg has received a cable advice stating that the s.s. Marsala, 2500 tons, left the Clyde on June IT for Port Chalmers, there to lead frozen meat. A ten per cent Dividend. The Equitable Investment Society have declared a ten per cent dividend for the half year. BankruptciesEight insolvencies have been filed daring the week.
