TIMARU HIGH SCHOOL.

The ordinary meeting of the Board of Governors of the Timaru High School was held last evening. Present—Mr B. A. Chisholm (Chairman), Messrs' Belfield, Glulee, LeGren and Bev. W. Gillies. Mr Dawson, Bector of the High School, 'and Mr Miles, Secretary, were also present. The minutes of the previous ordinary meeting and of an interim special meeting were read and confirmed. It was stated.that the Member for Timaru and the Member for Gladstone had been asked to do what they could to, obtain the £3OOO building subsidy asked for by the Board. They had promised to do their best to obtain it, but did not think it probable it would be given. With regard to Mr Sutter’s Bill, the Board had protested against any alteration in the constitution of the Board, and could do no more at present.

The Board resolved to meet in future at 4.30 p.m. on the first Tuesday in every month. The Rector’s report for the month stated the attendance to be—Boys,' 78 ; girls, 53 ; total, 131. The Chairman stated that since last meeting he had paid, in accordance with agreement, £537 19s 8d to Captain Cain, in completion of purchase of land. Accounts amounting to £lB6 lls 9d were passed.for payment. The meeting then terminated.
