;'BbOTER’s AqKNCV.] •Tramways, MELUOU.R.NB, June 8. A Bill authorising the construction of tramways in this city was under consideration in the Assembly last night. On tho motion for the second reading, great opposition was shown tothe Bill, and the debate was at length; adjourned. Charges gainst Mr Bent The Select Committeee of the Legislative Assembly which was appointed at the request of the Minister for Eailyways to enquire into the charges which have boon preferred against him with referenao to certain lines, and tho circumstances under which Mr Win. W. Elsdou, late Engineer in Chief, resigned his appointment,' has concluded its sittings. The report, which was laid before the Assembly to:day, completely exonerates Mr Wm. Bent from all. charges.

Company’s steamer Eanelagh, which wont ashore at King’s Eeof, near Cardwell early. last month, is reported as having arrived at Cleveland Bay, on the Queensland Coast, and is now' coaling. . Railways. = The report on the New South Wades railway lino shows that the profits for last year amounted to 5,33 per cent on the capital expended.
