TEMUKA ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of ibis Board was hold on the 6th inst. Present: Messrs Talbot, (chairman ) Barker, Paterson, Austin, ; and Ensor. The minutes of the former meeting were read and confirmed,-and signed by the Chairman. Mr Barker gave notice of motion that .in future all cheques given by the Board be crossed. On the tenders being opened it was found that the rule adopted last Board day, viz.,"that all deposit cheques must be marked good for eight days by abanker bad not been complied with It appeared that sufficient publicity had not been given in the matter, and. in con scquenco.it \yas docidpd not to enforce it this lime. The Surveyor was directed to add the rule to the specifications in future, and also to advertise it when calling for tenders, as the Board'intends to adhere to it hereafter. . , The following tenders were accepted-: Contiact No. II —Ackroyd, Is -Id per yard. Contract No. 12—Latimer Brothers, £2l lump sum. Contract No. 13 —C. Flynn, £08; lump sum. Contract No - 14—M. Flaherty, £l2 7s, lump sum, • Resolved—‘.‘That Cox’s Road be formed from the drain to the proposed bridge, and that the road, from the creek to the upper swamp road be cleared of thistles and put in order for light traffic.” A circular from the Colonial Treasurer was received re local governing bodies, &c. ; The matter was carefully considered, by the Board, and answers to the various questions asked Were decided upon, and the Chairman was requested to forward the same to the Colonial Treasurer / The Clerk was directed to again write to Mr Cox, re Cox’s drain. The tender of Siegcrt and Fauvcl was accepted for the supply of horse feed'. Accounts amounting to £127 13s fid were passed for payment, and the meeting'then adjourned. ■
