The Manipouri crossed the bar at 6.30 this morning,, and was berthed at Port Chalmers shortly after 8 o’clock, She has been thrown , open to a visitors to-day.: Moffatt, late manager of the Post Office Savings Bank at Moonta, who absconded in April last, was arrested ori board the steamer Pekin at London, on a charge of embezzlement, but was remanded, pending the arrival of certain legal documents from South Australia. The balance of . the shipment of frozen meat by the Dunedin, was placed on Smithfield market. 1600 carcases were offered, and/they realised an average of 6d per lb. The cargo is highly commended by the trade, as being exactly suitable for the Home market. . . Russia has made an unsuccessful attempt to float a loan on tho Paris Bourse. . A collision occurred between two trams at Wieblingeh, in the Grand Duchy of Baden, and a number of carriages were completely smashed. Thirteen passengers wore killed and a number wore seriously injured. The approval expressed by O’Donovan Rossa of the murder of Lord Cavendish and Mv Burke, has ifbndored him an object of general indignation in tho district whoro ho resides.
