MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office Timaru, for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under ; Saturday, Dec. 31. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Wanaka, at 2.20 p.m. For the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, the Continent of Europe, America, Africa, and the Sandwich Islands, and Mediterranean Ports, as follows : Money orders, registered letters, and newspapers, at 1.30 p.m. Ordinary letters at 2.30 p.m. Late fee letters will be received at the Chief Post Office till 2.50 p.ra., and at the Railway Travelling Post Office mail van (Northern Express Train) till 3.20 p.m, The Post-office will be open until 9 p.m. on Saturday, 31st inst., for delivery of correspondence at the counter, and on Monday, January 2, 1881, between 9 and 10 a.m. Local and other mails will be despatched as usual.
