Mails close at the Chief Post Office Timaru, for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : Thursday, Dec. 29. For Northern Ports of New Zealand per Xingarooma, at 6 a.m, Wednesday, Dec. 28. For Australian Colonies, per Rotomabana, at 4 p.m., to connect with P. and O. steamer leaving Melbourne on Jan. 4,1882. Saturday, Dec, 31. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Wanaka, at 2.20 p.m. For the United Kingdom, via San Francisco. The Post-office will be open until 9 p.m. on Saturday, 31st inst., for delivery of correspondence at the counter, and on Monday, January 2, 1881, between 9 and 10 a.m. Local and other mails will be despatched as usual.
