On the 9th March, 1923, we published au article on the correct uses of the nation's flags in Samoa. W'c are now advised that further official correspondence has taken place on the uses of flags then proposed, and it is now established tiiat three British flags only can correctly be flown in this Territory. 1. The Union Flag (Union Jack): is flown on Government buildings and is also the universal flag which may be flown by all residents of Samoa on public or other buildings on occasions such as the King's Birthday or other commemorative anniversaries. 2. The Union Flag (Union Jack): with the Samoau badge in the centre encircled by . a wreath, will be exclusively flown by His Excellency the Administrator at sea within Samoau wat er s and on Malaga. 3. The Red Ensign : with the Samoau badge in the Fly, may be flowu on board vessels belonging to any of the inhabitants of Western JSauioa. Of the other flags previously in use here, the Blue Ensign with the Satnoan badge in the Fly is now obsolete and is therefore nut an authorised flag, whilst it has beeu established that the British Red Ensign, without a badge, can only be flowu by vessels owned by British subjects who are also resident in His Majesty's dominions or partners in ; : . fi i in actually carryii:,.; on business in His Majesty ; dominions.
