Fiji Rybber.
In a letter to Mr. T. E. Creese, the owner of Waindoi,
the largest rubber plantation in, Fiji, Mr. R.. Hewart, of London, says that he had received offers of 1/5 for Fiji ' rubber and could uo better if he had a firm quantity to offer. He added he "would .not care to give any ; forecast of the market, as there is quite a ?[uantity of rubber being sold orward, and when the Americans stop buying the market * mijst cwse." The writer . goes on tOjSay that he met a man from '"".¥, M. S. who said he had erected a plant on the plantation out there for making mats and 7 Tolls for stairs, atfd was making a profit of £ 1000 a month from a ioooacre plantation. These goods were marketed in London. There was a strong move to do more
plantations,-'., where the rubber is in its natural soft state. A number of estates, which had , about- ruined their owners, have#|been taken _up by new local manufacture is going to prove to be the goose with the goldeu eggs. This new development m ust create a • great revival iu the xubber: business.
