Presentation to SubInspector Boddam.
The resignation of SubInspector Boddam from the local constabulary and his departure by the "Navua" three days lateVcame as a grc*at surprise to a wide circle of the community. During Mr. Boddam's stay in Satroa he has earned a host of friends, and owing to the hurried nature of .his departure there was little opportunity to do him the honoursof the occasion.* * However, the members of the constabulary did nat allow him to depart without some token of the high regard in which they held-him, as on Friday afternoon last, a few hours before his departure i occasion was taken to present him with a smoker's cabinet. ' The presentation took place in the billiard room at the police barracks, and Sergeant Braisby in a few well-chosen words paid fitting compliment * to Sub-Inspector Boddam, stressing the fine relationship which Ijad existed between / him and the constabulary. Sub-Inspector Boddam, evidently taken by complete surprise, was at great difficulty j, to express the thanks he felt. In a few words he hoped the men would help the authorities to the best of their ability; he wished to thank them for the loyalty and assistance they h4d given him. In the evening on the departure of the "Navua" Sub* Inspector Boddam, with Capt. Prictor, was given a popular send-off.
