Social Jottings.

During Past Monti. Quite a number of social events have taken place during the past mouth. His Excellency the Administrator entertained the following guests at dinner on the evening of the 14th inst. : - Mrs. Tennent. Mrs. Nicol, Mrs. Tattersall, Mrs. F. Syddall, Mrs, Dunlop, Mrs. Gerard, Miss Whitmofe, Capt. Gillespie, Capt. Carter. Messrs. Dunlop, Nicol, F. Syddall, Gerard. Tennent, Tattersall and Beaglehole. After dinner Mr. Chas. Read gave an excellent entertainment. On Wednesday evening, the 20th inst, the following were entertained at Vailima, a? guests of His Excellency the Administrator:— Mr. and Mrs. Auld, Mr. and Mrs. Macdonald, Mr. aud Mrs. Ritchie, Mrs Mclsaac, Mr., Mrs. and Miss Pattrick. Capt. Carter, Capt. Gillespie, Lieut, aud Mrs. Wallace and Lieut. \Vollerman. On the 13th inst., Mr. P. E. Pattrick entertained the following guests at the " Casino " : His Excellency the Administrator, Mrs. Mason Mitchell, Mrs. Keeling, Mrs. Tennent, Mrs. Dunlop, and Consul Mason Mitchell, Messrs. Keeling, Dunlop, Beaglehole aud Tennent. Before Mr. Chapman departed by the last Talnue, he was the guest of honour at dinner functions at Judge Roberts' and Mr. Loibl's.

On Tuesda}- evening a dinner party was held at His Honour Judge Roberts' residence, when the following were the guests : Mrs Loibl,

Mrs. Dunlop, and Messrs. Salter, Loibl, Dunlop, McIndoe, Chapman, Robertson, Boteler and Williams. On Thursday evening of last week a most enjoyable entertainment was given by Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Tennent to the soldiers of Sogi and Market Hall f Barracks. A sumptuous supper was provided and the rest of the evening was devoted to music aud parlour games, several of which were decidedly amusing. The entertainment was heartily enjoyed by the soldiers. The party ended just before midnight. The wedding of Miss Gladys Elvira Syddall and Mr. H. S. Newton, acting harbourmaster, takes place at the i\pia Foreign Church this afternoon at 4 o'clock. This evening Mr. aud Mrs. F. Syddall are giving a social evening at their residence in Ifi Ifi. Road in honour of the occasion.
