OBITUARY

ME. WILLIAM WARD

The death has occurred of William Ward, of Te Hana. He was born at Auckland in 1864, his parents having come from Manchester, England, with the Alhertland settlers. It was not, however, until 1874 that his parents took up their residence in the Alhertland district. During his early years the late Mr Ward was engaged in gumdigging and bush work, bub most of his adult life was spent in farming on property on the Silver Hill road, Te Hana. In 1898 he married 'Miss Caroline IT. Pook. Of a quiet and reserved nature, he was respected by all who knew him. For a number of years he was a member of the Mainene Domain Board and North Albertland School Committee, and was a constant witness to tho faith he professed as a member of tho (Church of Christ at North Albortlaud. He is survived by three sons and one daughter.
