Rodney Golf Club
ANNUAL MEETING
"I am pleased to. report, that the club's sound financial position has been maintained," said Mr T. IT, Walden, president, when presenting his report at the annual meeting of the Rodney Golf Club last Friday evening. There was a fair attendance of members present. Mr Walde» said that in the present difficult times, the next few years would probably be lean ones for all sports clubs, but with careful management and a sound policy of not proceeding with any but essential work, the club would continue to maintain its sound financial position. He mentioned that during the past year a number of members had gone overseas to fight for the Empire and the club extended to these men heartfelt gratitude and wish for their safe and speedy return. The president, in conclusion, paid a tribute to the #ood work of the secretaries and the wonderful support received from the ladies, and expressed his appreciation of the loyal co-operation received from every member of the club during his year of office. Members Serving Overseas — Honorary Membership —It was decided that all members serving overseas with the forces be elected honorary members. Life-Member Elected. —In recognition of her lengthy association with, and support given the club, Mrs D. Guv, of Kaipara Flats, was elected a life-member. Many tributes were paid by members to Mrs Guy's work on behalf of the club. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follow :—Patron, Mr J. E. Jones; president, Mr T. H. Walden ; vice-presidents, Dr. B. V. Shaw, Mr T. H. M. Stewart; club captain, Mr S. Morrison ; vice club captain, Mr L. G. Cheeseman ; hon. auditor, Mr V. W. Holden ; sec-retary-treasurer, Mr Gerald FitzGerald; committee, Messrs C. C. Ellis, R. W. R. Pnlhain, S. Moore, V. W. Holden and P. Morrison.
