Warkworth Town Board
The usual meeting of the Warkworth Town Board was held in the Board's offices last Monday evening. Mr P. A. McDowell presiding. The minutes of the special meeting held on Feb. 26th were confirmed and the minutes of the meeting held on February 17th were also confirmed subject to the following re Collins & Lovell's picture lease-being added :—"That in view of the deadlock between the parties cpncerried, the chairman suggested getting the opinion of Mr O'Shea, counsel for the Municipal Association,on the application of the various leases. After considerable discussion oil this suggestion it was accidentally discovered that the chairman had already taken the matter into his own hands and had written to Mr O'Shea. The Board members having been duped into discussing something which had been already d'ecide^.. After several members had voiced their opinion .of the chairman's action, the chairman closed the meeting to avoid further recrimination by the members.
Building Without Permit, etc. —The clerk was instructed to advise Mr li. D. MeikLjohn that the Board's previous decision remains the same. Borer-infested timber is taken to mean all coloured red on sketch plan. Studs to be chemically treated after removal of partition and partition to be replaced by wallboard.
Purchase of Handbook for Library—The Board decided to purchase Bulletin No. 83, "A Handbook of the Naturalised Flora of New Zealand," bound in quarter cloth, for the library. "TVlain Street Widening—Cm r. O'Rourke and the clerk wereauthorised to prepare estimates of the cost of shifting Azzy's building to new line and to expend money on preparation of scheme.
Garage on Shoesmith's Domain School Site—lt was decided to dispose of the garage on the new school site by public auction.
Paddy's Market—Sale of drinks etc. —A letter was received from the secretary .of the Paddy's Market, committee, which is to be held on the 21st inst., seeking permission to conduct a sweets stall for the sale of soft drinks, sweets and ice cream in the Town Hall during the day and evening of the day mentioned. —Permission was granted with the proviso that the stall is not sub-let.
Water Reticulation Scheme —A resolution was passed affixing the seal to the water supply agreement with Messrs A. J. Ranum, T. O'Rourke, K. Lovell and P. Syme in the presence of the chairman, two commissioners and the Town clerk. Cmr. O'Rourke did not vote on the motion.
Army Manoeuvres —Supply of Water —In connection with the Army manoeuvres to be carried out in the district this month, a letter was received from the offi cer commanding, Northern Military District, relative to the supply of water from the Board's system. —It was decided to reply stating that water would be available at the usual rate.
