£180 APPEAL

PADDY'S MARKET TO

BE HELD

At a public meeting held in the Warkworth Town Hall last Monday, the proposal to hold a Paddy's Market, followed by an evening of entertainment and auction for the purpose of augmenting the Warkworth District Patriotic Funds was further advanced. Mr P. A. McDowell, chairman of the Warkworth Patriotic District Committee presided over a fair attendance.

Mr McDowell said that.the district had to raise a sum of £180 by the end of March, which when added to the sum already in hand, would cornplete the district's quota of . £912. to the Rodney Zone's aim of raising £3500 by the date mentioned. The chairman paid a tribute to the response made to previous appeals by the public and the various working committees —their assistance and work, he said,Jjmd been wonderful. He mentioned, that about £2000 had already been collected in the County and the Warkworth distict had been instrumental in providing nearly;, half that amount. This noble response by the people, lie said, was greatly appreciated by the Zone,Patriotic Executive. After cVnsidei-atioil of several suggestions, it was decided to arrange a Paddy's Market to be held in the Warkworth Town Hall during the morning and afternoon of Friday, March 21st, to be followed, in the evening with other attractions, sideshows, etc., and to conclude with an auction.

A strong' working committee was set up to organise the function in conjunction with a number of existing committees, one of which,the Warkworth Entertainment Committee, offering to raise to the sum^f £40 toward the required amount.
