Rodney County Council

MONTHLY MEETING

The usual monthly meeting of the Rodney County Council was held in •the Council Chambers on Wednesday lasfi February 19th. Councillors present were : —W. li. Grant (Hoteo), chairman; T. O. L. Jenkins (Kaipara); T. A. Gubb (Kourawhero); L. Shepherd (Albert); W. J. Scholium (Puhoi); J. Morrison (Matakana); J. B. Greenwood (Omaha); C. F. Hooper (Tauhoa); and J. .T. Flamank (Arai). Correspondence was received from : Treasury Dept., forwarding subsidies on highway maintenance amounting to £708/3/10, and Mahuraugi Heads road £493/10/10. •Main Highways Board, forwarding .additional highways maintenance Authority of £1384. Ministry of Supply, re control of building materials. Public Works Dept., forwarding authority £135, £3 for £1, for work .on J. Turnwald's road. Also, re.questing payment of balance of~ contribution to Kun road metalling.

Transport Dept. forwarding monthly report of Inspector re licenses for jnotor cars and vehicles.

Coxhead Creek Road—A letter was received from Mr Harry Ashton, drawing the Council's attention to the Imd state of the Coxhead Creek road and requesting the Council to carry cut improvements. — The letter was received and the engineer was instructed to make an inspection with ji view to something being done during the new financial year. Hauling Contract — The Council decided to accept the offer of W. J. Mcßreen to haul 588 cubic yards of sandstone spauls to L. Turnwald's And J. Turnwald's roads at 1/8 per yard. Fencing, Snell's Beach —A request was received from Mr Edwin C Daliton, ■ with property at Snell's Beach, seeking permission to fence closer to the road than the usual one chain regulation.—Permission was granted, subject to approval of engineer and Riding mem bet and at the pleasure .of the Council.

Hamilton's Road — Owing to the .urgent need for completing as much work as possible before the end of March, the Council decided to accept the offer of A. T. Roke to quarry, bjeak-and^deliver to Hamiltbn*sToad -145 c yds- of limestone at 4/6 per yard, royalty included. Erection of Telephone Lines —The Applications of G. T. Came, VVhangaripo.aud W. M. Linder, Pakiri Block, ±o erect telephone lines were ap-

proved. : Erection of Cream Stand — Permission was granted D. Woodcock to erect two cream stands, one on /the Ahuroa-Woodcocks road and the .. other at the junction of the Wood- ' cocks-Kaipara Flats road, subject to the engineer's approval of the sites. Pipeline Across Road —Permission to cross road with pipe-line was granted John W.
