Haymakers' Dance.
After the completion of extensive haymaking operations on his property, MrK. J. Wech extended an invitation to those who assisted him to a social evening in the Pohuehue School on Friday last. For several hours the guests enjoyed themselves dancing to musig supplied by Mrs J. Rauner, Messrs T. Bayer, S. Bayer, B. Bayer and J. Rauner. Items given by Mr Cecil Barker, T. Sullivan and T. Rosieur were much appreciated by the audience. Some diversion was caused by a'wrestling match between Masters Rosieur and Wech. Both lads appeared to be conversant with all the latest holds, but as neither had secured a fall when the gong sounded the bout was declared a draw. Supper was then handed round, and after a few more dances the party dispersed well satisfied with the hospitality extended them. Among those present were Mesdames X". Barker, Jack and R. J. Wech, Pi Hickey, J. Rauner and Bayer, and the Misses Pearl Barber, Eileen Barker, Misses Wech (5), Fanny Stewart, Sullivan and Anderson.
