WELLSFORD NOTES
(Own Correspondent.)
Great inconvenience was caused to the farmers and business community of the WeUsford district through the slips and washouts on the railway. The cream from as far north as Kaiwaka from suppliers to the Kaipara Dairy Co. had to be taken by road to Helensville. No trucks were available to transport stock for a period of a week, and therefore no southern buyers were present at the sheep fair held on Friday. Work on the brick premises for the We Usford Butchery Co. had to cease as no bricks were brought through by rail.
Sheep Fair
There was a record yavding of over 5000 sheep at the sheep fanheld last Friday by the North Auckland' Farmers' Co-op. Ltd. Owing to the-blockageon the railway do southern buyers were present, but practically the whole yarding changed hands at ruling values.; The demand was good for all good lines of wethers, ewes and store lambs. A feature of the sale was the purchase of small lines by local dairy farmers, and each season sees an increase in the number-of sheep kept on the dairy farms in the district.
