A very enjoyable social organised by the Omaha and Pakiri Women's Institute, was held in the Leigh Hall on Friday, Dec. 30th. The stage was tastefully decorated for the occasion, and several musical and elocutionary items were contributed during the evening. Mrs Cowan sang two songs which were much appreciated ; Mesdames Story and Harper gave a pianoforte duet ; little Belinda Story gave a charming recitation; Mr Dunbar contributed two songs which were much enjoyed ; Mr Story gave two Irish songs ; and several members of the Institute acted a delightful one-act play, which was much appreciated. Excellent dance music was supplied by Clark's orchestra and a delicious supper was provided by members of the Institute. The funds obtained are to go toward the cost of erecting a rest-room. "li.M.S. DIOMEDE."

On Sunday last all roads led to Ti Point, where a vast gathering assembled to picnic and to visit the warship. They were taken out to the ship, which was anchored half a mile from the wharf, on MrTorkingtcn's launch and also on one of the ship's launches. The visit to the ship was much enjoyed, especially by the children. . Camping at Ti Point. There were a great many campers at Ti Point during the holidays, the excellent fishing, swimming and picturesque surroundings proving a great attraction to Town folk. Mr and Mrs F. J. W. Taylor and family spent two weeks under canvas at Ti Point and had a most enjoyable holiday.
