This club has beou short of players for the last two or throe seasons, but those engaged in the tobacco industry had joined up this year and now iho club has a membership of over 40. This will enable the club to get ifi gome matches, mid develop into a club like it was 10 years ago, when it wue able to defeat any club around here. It' Port Albert can improve their club there should be some very good tennis in .Rodney West. AMUSEMENTS., The dance which was postponed on account of the weather was held on Wednesday evening. The weather was again very unsettled, and affected the attendance. Those who risked getting wet had an enjoyable evening, and the ladies' hockey club will add to its funds. All arrangements are completed for the school concert on Thursday evening and patrons are assured of ft good entertainment. ' A second meeting of the picnic committee was held on Tuesday evening. After plenty of discussion as to th© programme and extras for the pupils^ everything was settled and all that 19 required to make the 18th a success is a tine day. ACCIDENT. An accident occttrred at the railway station last week, which ended much better thau was expected. Mr X. tiindman, the porter, was crushed while shunting and was very lucky -,oescape with his life. He was v.cry badly shaken and bruised, and was confined to his bed for several days, being attended by the district nurse. GENERAL.
