A WISE CHANCE.
Business had been bad, and at the dose of the week Zeno, the new wirorope walker, went to the manager for his salary.
"I'm sorry to keep you waiting, Zeno," the manager said; "but we pay alphabetically. If you'll be patient you'll get your turn."
. So Zeno waited, and went again to the manager, who said:
"I'm very sorry, Zeno; but the money gave out before we got to Z."
The next season Zeno went out with the same show. When the manager saw him, he said:
"How do you do, Zeno?"
He replied: "Don't call me Zeno; I've changed my name to Ajax."
