TOWN BOARD

The Town Board met oi* Friday last. Present—Messrs Alex Waria (Chairman), B H. McKinney, T. H. Wilson, W. Civil, R. N. Warm. AUCKLAND METAL. Mr T. H. Wilson reported that his inquiries in Auckland had resulted in Messrs Craig quoting 13s 6d per yard for 2£- inch hard metal delivered at Warkworth; Reardon, 9s per yard; Morningside, 13s. Reardon's stone was unknown, and the Board awaited receipt of a sample from him. ' LIGHTING. Mr Wilson also reported the result of his inquiry re lighting. The National Engineering and Electrica Company had agreed to send an expert to report for the mere payment of expenses. It was pointed out that it would be necessary to make some inquiry among townspeople to ascertain how many would take the light and power if provided. Messrs T. H. Wilson, W. Civil, and R. N. Warm were appointed a committee to go into the matter, and report on a lighting scheme, HALL CARETAKER; Three tenders were received for the position of Hall Caretaker. Mr T. Warm received the office, at £22 per annum. POUNDKEEPER. Mr W. Wilson, who is ill in the Hospital in Auckland, wrote, resigning his position as poundkeeper. It was decided to advertise for a successor. TENDERS FOR METALLING. It was decided to call for tenders for metalling Wilson's Deviation. DO YOUR OWN FOOTPATH. It was agreed to find a barrel and a half of tar and 16s worth of shingle for Mr Q-. H. Phillips, in order that he might lay down (on his own proposal) 4£ chains of Hill Street footpath in asphalt. The total cost to the Board was not to exceed £2 10s. WILSON'S DEVIATION. Ifc was decided to pay the balance of Mr Fred Oivii's account, subject to securing the Engineer's certificate; and to invite the Engineer to attend as early as possible to pass this and other works. WORK DONE WITH SGOOP AND GRADER. The Foreman of Works reported favorably on the work done on McKinney's Road (£l2 7s), Mill Lane (£6 ss), and Victoria Street (£l7). There will be £6 extra for pipes and culverts on McKinney Road. The extra for pipes in Victoria Street will be about £5. On the Sandspit Road there would be an additional £4 ss.
