Port Albert.

(A Correspondent.)

The annual meeting of the Methodist Church Social Guild, was held in the Port Albert church kitchen on Wednesday, September 24th. The Treasurer's report disclosed the fact, that for the period under review over eighty pounds had been received. Of this, about four pounds remained in hand, the balance had been expended in assisting various departments of the church. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows :-- President, Mrs Strand; vice-president, Mrs W. Inger; treasurer, Mrs L. Bennett; secretary, Miss Stables. Thanks were returned to the retiring officers for their efficient services during the past year.

What sounded very much like a parody on current events was road as an announcement from the church pulpit last Sunday, that the trustees would meet "to decide the exact site of the social hall." I am assured, however, that the trustees are about to erect a hall upon the church grounds. This has been made possible through, the generosity of one of the church members. The building will be mainly of iron, and will measure forty feet by twenty.
