The. case of T. Carroll v. Rodney County Council1 for alleged damage caused by fire alleged to have been started by the Council's workmen, which was to have been heard at Auckland on October the 7th, is to be adjourned to a date npt yet fixed.

We are .sorry to learn that Mr Percy Treadwell of Port Albert met with an accident last Friday. He was chopping wood when a piece ilew up, badly cutting the flesh under the eye. Mr G, B. Reid attended to the wound, and it is hoped no danger to the eye will result. : .. -
The T6wn Band is certainly doing credit to Bandmaster Hume. In addition to the programme on the Hockey ground on Saturday, the Band alao gave a pleasing programme on Sunday afternoon at the Rotunda. Wo are glad to observe clear evidence of a desire not to conflict with the work of the .adjoining Sunday school. That is.as it should be.
Big-cattle sales have been held in Warkworth this month.
Coming events. Town Board meets Friday evening to consider Bridge tenders. The Town Hall Anniversary concert is to be better than the best and -will eventuate on the 13th of October. Wednesday; October 15th, is County Council meeting day. The Thursday and Friday following a bazaar is to be held in the Town Hall, in aid of the Methodist Church.
A well attended and enjoyable social ,was held in the Town Ball on Wednesday evening last, upwards of 130 guests responding to the invitations frojn members of the local Odpfellows lodge to participate in the evening's entertainment provided by that body. Dancing was indulged in with zest to music supplied on thei: piano by Mr Sam Stringer, Messrs 18. McPherson, C. Gathercole, T. Burke and S. Orr acting as M.C'e. A special feature of the dance was the excellent condition In which the floor was. Refreshments were provided, and dancing did not conclude until after 2 o'clock.
