ELECTRIFIED TOBACCO.
An interesting experiment has been made by a German scientist in electrifying tobacco as a means of ensuring its flavour and keeping qualities. The flavour of tobacco is said to be largely due to the peculiar fungus or "bacterial flora" with which each variety is a-ssociated, and electricity kills the fungus, but preserves the flavour. This German scientist has taken the peculiar mould, or fungus, of the best Havana tobacco and transferred it to the more coarsely flavoured Bavarian tobacco, and it is claimed that good judges cannot distinguish the Havana from the Bavarian.
