A GOOD FRIEND.
One of the greatest friends the poul-try-keeper has is the homely whitewash. It works wonders in. the fowlhouse, and helps the sanitation in a marvellous manner. It is not everyone, however, who knows just how to make good whitewash, and it is to those who do not that the following hints will he of use:—To each peck of lime while in the progress- of slacking add one pint of raw linseedoil. After the lime has become thoroughly dissolved, reduce the water to the proper ro?7sistency and add one pint of rock salt for each peck. Another method: To each peck of lime, after mixing to the proper consistency, add glue water (made of one pound of good quality ground glue, dissolved1 and mixed into the wash), then add one pint of rock salt to each peck. Either of these two formulae will be found serviceable. They are easily followed, and should present no difficulty.
