ONLY TWENTY MEDICINES.
Drs. Huchard and Fiessenger, of the French AcaHemv «f Medicine, have just come to the conclusion that all medicines can be reduced to 20. Th-.it is to say, they hold that only 20 dr-uj s are really efficacious in the treatment of disease. Statements of this kind have often been made before, but this is probably the first time that any physicians have deliberately published the list of efficacious medicines. Here it is: Saljcylate of soda, bicarbonate of: soda, sulphate of soda, iodide of poTassium, Bromide of potassium, quinine, mercury, digitalis, iron, bismuth, theobromin, arsenic, opium^ belladonna, castor oil, aloes, ergot, antipyrine, the group of specific serums, and the groups of colloid ferments of metals.
