A CURE FOR WHEEZING.
Many poultry-keepers have been troubled by a wheezing noise in the throat of some of their birds. This is a sort of rattle that can be heard quite a distance away, and the bird that has this complaint as a rule is listless and not over-keen on food. One cure is to place a little powdered sulphate of iron in a tube and blow it down the birds throat. This ought to cure the rattling in a very short time. The best time to give this medicine is in the evening, when the birds are going to roost for the night. The complaint always seems worst ai) this time cf the day. The fowl affected should be taken into the house away from the others while the dose is being given. After it has been administered do not place the bird back on the perch with her companions, but put her into a spare pen until the morning. Then she can be allowed to join the rest of the
flock.
