Amongst these are Handicap Chop Novices Chop, and Kicking the Football. The fruit section has been thoroughly revised and several classes added. A special prize has been offered fora wrapping and packing competition. A Bub-committee was appointed to arrange for a concert to raise further funds. The probable date will be November 22nd. The committee will arrange for the best Auckland talent.
Considerable discussion arose at the Whangarei County Council meeting out of the decision of the Public Works Depdrtment in not allowing works on Government grants being carried out by day work unless the Minister's consent was first obtained. It was resolved that the Minister be informed that the Council had extensive road making plants, arid that it would now mean that this plant would have to be hired out to contractors if the decision were adhered to.
