LINSEED TEA
Thi's is an old-fashioned remedy for a cold that has withstood the crucial test of time. It is now the custom to deride what ''moderns'- designate "old wives' remedies." To make linseed tea you require three tablespoonsful of .linseed (not meal), one pint of water, two lemons, brown sugar or sugar candy, either of which you prefer, and half an ..ounce of liquorice. Put the linseed in a clean stewpan with the water and boil it f or ten minutes. Then strain the water into * a jug, add to it the lemons cut in thin slices, the sugar, or better still sugar candy, and the liquorice broken into small pieces. If liquorice is disliked it may be omitted. A small quantity of the tea, warmed and taken at bedtime,, will soothe a tiresome cough.
Every day that dawns brings something to do which can never be done so well again. We should, therefore, try to do it .ungrudgingly and cheerfully. It was designed to be our life, our happiness. Instead of shirking it, we should put our whole heart and soul into it. 132
