Poetry of the Week.

DAY DREAMS.

I was sitting1 one day by the sea shore, When the tide came sweeping in, And my thoughts were 'borne on its

sounding, Far away from the noise and din

The waves came dashing in splendour On the hot and dusty sand, Ana they seemed, in their, rhythmic music,

To bear strains from the far off land

And I thought of one who but lately Had crossed death's narrow sea, And now is harboured safely On the shores of Eternity.

From his haven of safety yonder, Does he see. my barque as" it glides?— Now gently and calmly moving Now swept onward by rising tides.

For him the storms are all over, For me they may but have begun! Broken cordage and rented sails may

be mine,

Ere life's voyage, be done,

If in safety my vessel reaches

The Haven where I would be,

Will he be the first to welcome, To the country that knows no sea? A.E.H.
