On Thursday last, Mr Wenzl Wech of Ahuroa, was driving a bullock waggon which was laden with a heavy log for Moir's mill. While proceeding along the cutting near to the mill, the bullocks swerved into the bank, and Mr Wech who was between the waggon and the bank after shouting other orders, saw that he was in danger of being jammed so he made a jump up the bank, but he slipped and fell, and both wheels passed over his body. Evidently the, weight was not evenly distributed, for it was a miracle Mr Wech was not instantly killed. Dr. Ick-Hewins was sent for, and later it was decided to secure further medical advice.
