Last Tuesday week Ja seven year old lad named -Soar went out on his father's farm at Kaipara Flats to help to, catcK a horse. When the animal wpTbeing rounded up, it lashed out and kicked the lad on the face. The boy wasbrougbt in to Dr. Ick-Sewins who dressed the wound and stitched it up. Both Mr and Mrs Soar are in pooivhealth and are away in town. Mrs Brott acted the mother's part, and under her attention the little fellow is getting on well.

On Thursday last, Mr Wenzl Wech of Ahuroa, was driving a bullock waggon which was laden with a heavy log for Moir's mill. While proceeding along the cutting near to the mill, the bullocks swerved into the bank, and Mr Wech who was between the waggon and the bank after shouting other orders, saw that he was in danger of being jammed so he made a jump up the bank, but he slipped and fell, and both wheels passed over his body. Evidently the, weight was not evenly distributed, for it was a miracle Mr Wech was not instantly killed. Dr. Ick-Hewins was sent for, and later it was decided to secure further medical advice.
