MACHINE FOR THE FARM

A tillage machine, treating the soil in the same manner as can be accomplished with a shovel and hoe, has been devised in Germany. Three strong wheels with broad rims carry a covered platform, mounted on which is a45 h.p. petrol engine making 500 revolutions per minute. Power is transmitted to the tilling mechanism by means of chains. When lowered to the ground the machine digs up clods and throws them backwards against a guard, where they are thoroughly pulverised.
