Mr Asquith was entertained at luncheon at the National Liberal Clnb. He said that daring the last six months Ireland was in a state of civil war. The blind truth was that since the establishment of reprisals British justice had Been placed in the background and vengeance was enthroned. The executive bad allowed itself and its servants to become ministers of a polity of blind, pitiless and indiscriminate revenge. Government's system of administration - was not only contrary to the fundamental principles of liberty, but to the best tradition of civilisation, which was Christianity.
