It is believed that 300 were buried at Fmzzano. Manywere buried alive at Carrara owing to the quarries caving in, or were crushed to death by the moving boulders. The aead in Carrara include one family, consisting of the mother and seven children. Among the famous buildings destroyed is Vasari’s famed Church of the Madoniia Dell at Pistja.
